COLORADO ADVENTURE PHOTOGRAPHER TEAM
JUST TWO PEOPLE WHO FELL IN LOVE WHILE CULTIVATING SOMETHING WORTH TENDING TO.
It started when Lydia needed a photography assistant. T volunteered — partly because he’d always been curious about photography, but mostly because they’d just started dating and he wanted to spend more time with her.
From the first session, something clicked. He anticipated every need before it was spoken. The right lens. The right moment. The right instinct. Lydia remembers thinking: I really hope this relationship lasts, because he is the best assistant I’ve ever had.
It did last. And then some.
What grew between us, personally and professionally, was never really separate. We were falling in love and building a business at the same time, learning each other’s strengths on the job, figuring out how two people become one seamless team. T got his hands on a camera early on and never looked back. Lydia taught him everything she knew. He brought something she couldn’t teach: decades of exploring the Gunnison Valley.
Together, we discovered something neither of us had alone. The ability to be everywhere at once. The wide shot and the close-up. The ceremony and the laughter. The landscape and the love.
We married in the Crested Butte wilderness in July 2020, an intimate wedding surrounded by wildflowers and the mountains that shaped us into who we are today.
Something we’ve learned through years of working together: the things that make us good partners in life are the same things that make us good photographers. We’re sentimental. We lead with connection.
As cliché as it may sound, we love love, not as a concept, but as something worth showing up for every single day.
We continue to grow our business the same way we nurture our own relationship — organically, intentionally, and with a genuine love for the people we get to celebrate.
This is what you get when you book Mountain Magic Media: Two people who have dedicated their lives to this work, who embrace every moment fully, and who are completely invested in yours.
Behind the scenes
We live the kind of life in Crested Butte that makes it easy to understand why couples come here to mark the most important moments of their lives. Skis in winter, hiking boots and paddleboards in summer, backpacks full of charcuterie for somewhere secluded.
Potluck dinners with friends, board games, garden projects, and two very opinionated cats — Felix, the aloof floof who demands belly rubs and sings loudly about it, and Tycho, the accidental adoption we’re completely obsessed with.
We’re dog people at heart — our boys Niko and Geovi spent years on every trail and adventure with us, and we carry them with us forever in our hearts.
If you’re thinking of bringing your dogs on an adventure with us, know that they’re already welcome.
We are sentimental people who love deeply and build connections easily — and we think that’s exactly why this work suits us so well.
It’s a good life. We don’t take it lightly.
We chose this place on purpose and have spent years discovering favorite spots and hidden gems.
When you hire us, you’re hiring two people who know exactly where and when the perfect light lands, which trail will feel as if it was made for your moment, and how to get you there feeling held the entire way.
MEET LYDIA
There are photographers who are technically gifted. There are photographers who make people feel at ease. Lydia is both — and that combination is rarer than it sounds.
She has been a photographer since 2011 and a photojournalist by training, which means she doesn’t just take beautiful images; she knows how to find the story inside a moment and pull it out. She sees a moment before it happens. She moves through a scene as if she belongs there, invisible when she needs to be, present when it matters. Her direction is confident and light: action cues rather than stiff poses, movement and connection rather than stillness.
What I notice most, though, is how she makes people feel. Comfortable. Seen. She is the reason our couples leave feeling like themselves in their photographs
MEET T
T has lived in the Gunnison Valley since 2005. He knows where the light hits, when to pivot for weather, and how to read a location in a way that no amount of research can replicate. He knows how to calm a nervous couple — or their dog — before the moment matters most. That knowledge is built into every plan we make.
On a shoot, he is completely dialed in: handing me what I need before I’ve asked for it, noticing the detail in the corner of the frame while I’m focused on the center, offering a fresh angle at exactly the right moment. He works harder than anyone I’ve ever known, and he does it without seeking recognition.
He’s an introvert by nature — but don’t let that fool you. T is the person who stops to give a stranger on the trail the best recommendations or directions, who goes out of his way to make sure everyone around him feels oriented and cared for. He genuinely cares about people having a good experience. Not because it’s his job — because it’s who he is.
What you’ll feel on the day is ease. What’s behind that ease is T.

OUR APPROACH
COMFORT & CONNECTION FIRST
We believe the best photographs come from couples who feel genuinely at ease, so we spend as much time building that ease as we do finding the light. Our style is documentary at its core — we observe, anticipate, and capture — with thoughtful direction when it serves the moment. The result is imagery that feels real because it is: true-to-life color, honest emotion, and a sense of place that’s specific to these mountains of Crested Butte.
