We collect your name so we don’t have to call you Mister/Sir/Madam/Ma’am/Hey You. We collect your email address so we can communicate with you. We collect your mobile number so we can call you to find you on your adventure session or event day. You can text us photos of your photoshoot outfits and/or your pets. We won’t share them with anyone, but we will tell you how cute everything looks! We collect your address so we can mail any photographic prints to you because that’s what you’ve paid us to do. All of this is necessary for us to do our jobs.
When you use the contact form on my website, it arrives in an email inbox that is tightly passworded with multi-factor authentication. If you go ahead with booking us as your photographers, we will store your email in our neat-o client database software called Studio Ninja (a GDPR compliant company), which is only accessible through our business computers.
We have a blog on our website where we showcase our breathtaking photography. If you comment on it, it’s super public so everyone can see it. So don’t write down your personal credit card details there, you can just send those directly to us.
In all seriousness, if you have questions about how your personal data is handled, you can just send us an email and we will quickly write a reply. We’re happy to show you the information we have on you, and unsurprisingly, it’ll probably be exactly the things you’ve told us because sadly we are neither spies nor mind readers. If some of the information is wrong, you have the right to correct it, and we would definitely recommend this because neither of us wants us to turn up at the wrong place or at the wrong time! If you’d like us to delete all your personal data, you have the right to request it, but we wouldn’t recommend asking for that before your session or event otherwise our journey to photographing your magic moments will become a doomed fairytale with a not-so-happy ending where we are lost in the woods, forever searching for you and a way to get in touch with you. We definitely need to know some stuff about you in order for us to go on rad adventures together. We do tend to keep the email addresses of our clients in the database for the duration that we provide your online galleries. If you’d like to fully close your account with us and have us delete your information, just let us know and we can totally wipe all of your details from our database.
To summarize, we are not random weirdos. We will use your email to email you about your photography and the services you have hired us for. If there’s something related to your session or event like a discount coupon for prints, we’ll possibly email you that too, but only if we like you. If there’s something unrelated to your session or event but is related to something we had a connection about, like recommendations for epic things to do on your travels, we may email you about that too. Feel free to email us about those same conversations!
We wouldn’t give your email out to anyone else! We also won’t be sending you lots of newsletters, because frankly, we’re not the newsletter-y type of people. We do sometimes give out client phone numbers to other artists/vendors if they need it. This is only if they are involved with your session or event and request it, not because they’re cute, but because similar to the clause above, it’s best for all involved if they are able to find you for your adventure/session/event, etc.
We have a questionnaire that asks you for details about yourself and anything pertaining to your adventure, session, and/or event. The answers to that questionnaire also remain stored in our sweet AF client database software (Studio Ninja) and those answers are super helpful for us to get all of your details organized. After our time together, we might send you a questionnaire for a blog post. You aren’t obliged to fill it out and what you write in there may be edited into content for your blog feature. So again, please don’t leave treasure maps to pots of gold in there. Any and all information we request from you is entirely voluntary.
Sometimes your photos look really jazzy to an independent blogger, and they may ask my permission to court thee. Again, nothing can happen without your consent so please don’t stress about that. Sometimes we submit photos to competitions and/or publications because it’s fun to see our work published, but we tend to only use photos you’ve already given permission for on our own website. You can always request to not be published.
If a third-party does approach us asking to buy one of your photos, we will email you about it.
If you have booked with us, you have probably looked at photos of our real couples and real people on these various avenues. We do ask couples to opt-in to this in our contract, but you can always decide to keep your photos private. We have shot a lot of photographs that no one has seen. At the end of the day, we’re not @$$holes and we respect that some people don’t want to be on the Internet. You can veto any photos that you would prefer not to be shared, and it is your responsibility to ask your guests’ permission to be featured online or in print.
We store photos of your beautiful faces on password-encrypted hard drives in our home office that are behind locked doors. We also have security cameras at our house. We own expensive computers and camera gear, so security really matters to us. We also keep a copy of your faces with online gallery provider (Pic-Time) that is GDPR compliant.
In the end, all you really need to know is that we are honest people who want to be able to do our jobs and are genuinely excited to easily communicate with you!
GDPR compliance achieved! Thanks for reading, thanks for agreeing to have us contact you regarding all the stuff you hired us to do. We appreciate it!
